CHURCH LIAISON PROGRAM

How Your Church Can Help Us Make A Difference

    Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in volunteering! The normal application process consists of the following: completion of a formal application and confidentiality agreement, a CORI clearance, two references, and a personal interview with a staff member.

The Protestant Guild for Human Services respects the contribution of volunteers at the same level as professional staff. Both are required to have appropriate clearance before interacting with students. Before placement, your signature will be required to give us permissions to obtain a CORI (criminal records) clearance.

For volunteers under the age of 18, written parental permission is required.

For further information about these volunteer opportunities, please contact us at (781) 893-6000.

The Friendship Program: volunteers in this program provide friendship and guidance to a student on a one-to-one basis. Volunteers can take students on special trips to the movies, out to eat, or other events, or simply be someone a student can talk to.
Christmas Stocking Project: we invite volunteers to experience the true meaning of Christmas by helping us assemble and/or deliver holiday stockings to more than 1,000 visually impaired nursing home residents each Christmas.
The Protestant Guild Annual Golf Tournament: volunteers at our annual golf tournament can help in many ways including registration, set up and hole and green assignments to mention a few.
Recreation Programs: volunteers can help with Special Olympics, therapeutic horseback riding, day trips and outings, cross country skiing, swimming and water aerobics.
Other volunteer opportunities are available in our: Business Office / Development Office / Residential Program / Teaching / School Staff (including student teaching internships)

    Additional Needs

Donate games and/or toys for birthday presents and recreational activities.
Donate appliances, small electronics and/or computers.

    Special Opportunities for Giving
Gifts of all sizes help us maintain our quality programs, support our Recreation Fund and enable us to provide safe and comfortable homes for our students.

  • $35 will provide plants, posters and personalized decorations that make a student's bedroom more homelike and relaxing.
  • $50 will purchase Christmas and birthday gifts for a student who has little or no family contact.
  • $75 will allow eight students from a residence to go out to a movie and buy popcorn for a special reinforcement treat.
  • $100 will buy athletic equipment (basketballs, soccer balls and other outdoor and indoor games) so students at a residence can enjoy some fun and games and learn valuable social skills.
  • $250 will allow 10 students to experience the relaxing benefits of yoga classes for a month.
  • $500 will allow 5 students to enjoy the physical and emotional benefits of therapeutic horseback riding for five weeks.

We invite you to help us make a difference!
